1980年代より環境音楽や映像音楽、商業空間のための音楽制作を数多く手がけ、青山・スパイラルの館内音楽をはじめ、建築や空間と響き合う作品を生み出してきた、日本の環境音楽を代表する作曲家・尾島由郎。

2026年7月から8月にかけて、渋谷PARCOの館内音楽として書き下ろされた新作『BGM Plus』が、Kankyō Recordsよりカセットでリリース。

「7月から8月の光に満ちた渋谷PARCOを歩くための音楽」として制作された本作には、透明感のある電子音や柔らかなシンセサイザー、淡く揺らめく音の層が静かに重なり合い、都市のなかに穏やかな余白を生み出す全6曲・約45分を収録。

朝露のようなみずみずしさを帯びた音色、遠い夜空に浮かぶ星々の囁きのような微細な煌めき、そしてその奥に静かに漂う深みのある響き。柔らかく静謐な音は、ゆっくりと微細な変化を重ねながら空間へと浸透し、音楽とその周囲の境界を少しずつ曖昧にしていく。

ほんのわずかな揺らぎや余韻までもが豊かな質感として立ち上がり、夏の光や建築、人々の往来と穏やかに呼応する。都市の光と空気のなかへ静かに溶け込んでいく、6つの音風景。[GRRRDEN]

Since the 1980s, Yoshio Ojima has been one of Japan’s leading composers of environmental music, creating numerous works for visual media, commercial spaces, and architectural environments. His work includes the iconic background music for Spiral in Aoyama, alongside many other compositions conceived in close dialogue with architecture and space.

BGM Plus, a new work composed specifically for Shibuya PARCO and played throughout the building from July to August 2026, is now released on cassette by Kankyō Records.

Created as “music for walking through Shibuya PARCO, filled with the light of July and August,” the album features six tracks spanning approximately 45 minutes. Translucent electronic tones, soft synthesizers, and gently shimmering layers of sound slowly overlap, creating quiet pockets of space within the city.

Tones carrying the freshness of morning dew, delicate glimmers like the whispers of stars in a distant night sky, and deeper resonances drifting quietly beneath them. Soft, tranquil sounds gradually permeate the space through subtle shifts and transformations, gently blurring the boundary between the music and its surroundings.

Even the slightest fluctuations and lingering resonances emerge as rich textures, responding gently to summer light, architecture, and the movement of people. Six soundscapes that quietly dissolve into the light and air of the city. [GRRRDEN]
